MARIAANNA ANASTOS, LPC
MENTAL HEALTH THERAPIST
she/her/hers
MariaAnna is a holistic, warm, and empathic listener who seeks to be a gentle passenger to her clients’ histories and current distress. While attuning herself to her clients strengths and values, she seeks to foster a non-judgmental atmosphere to help clients feel safe identifying the connections of their past with the here-and-now. She acts as a bridge for clients to safely begin noticing the connections of their relationship patterns with the present sensations, thoughts, and behaviors that may interfere with the relationships and lives they desire. Primarily working with attachment and developmental trauma, MariaAnna draws from a relational, trauma-informed, attachment based lens, incorporating psychodynamic, humanistic, DBT, CBT, somatic, and mindfulness techniques to carry her clients towards learning new skills when navigating the road to healing. In self-exploration, MariaAnna also enjoys utilizing Enneagram as a self-reflection tool to explore her clients’ stories, childhood wounds, core motivations, fears, and potential defense mechanisms.
As a bicultural Greek-American therapist who has lived abroad, MariaAnna enjoys recognizing the complex cultural and intersectional layers of her clients’ experiences. She believes in order to facilitate change, fostering a strong relationship with her clients means embracing their holistic lifestyles and selves, exploring together how this may inform the therapeutic space and relationship. She also seeks to empower her clients with education where it calls, creating a validating space to encourage believing that change is possible where they may otherwise feel stuck or hopeless. MariaAnna also believes that therapy is a place to celebrate the victories and ironies life has to offer, bringing playfulness, joy, and humor when appropriate.
With that in mind, MariaAnna hopes to act as a safe and gentle refuge for those of all backgrounds, identities, social classes, races, religions, genders, sexualities, and beyond. Among C-PTSD and PTSD issues, she additionally works with those affected by personality disorders, mood and anxiety disorders, emotional dysregulation, relationships and self-esteem, codependency, men’s issues, adjustment issues, identity confusion, addictions, life transitions, grief and family distress, self-harm and crisis, neurodivergence, and more.
